The story
Officially registered in the 037-Register as "Andruet-Testwagen" Official rally car of the Chardonnet team Ex-property of the famous rally driver Jean-Claude Andruet Recently: complete overhaul of engine and transmission Driven by Walter Röhrl at the AVD Histo Monte Rally in 2026 Completed on July 29, 1983 at the Lancia factory Still in its original racing livery, complete with Pioneer & Total sponsor stickers The last rear-wheel-drive model to win the world title! The Lancia 037 – an exceptional collectible vehicle with a brand-related historicity and a history of prominent drivers. This Lancia 037 is one of the rare examples that stand out not only for their construction but especially for their historical placement within the context of the official Chardonnet team. According to indications from the operational environment of the time, this vehicle is associated with the group of training, development, and press vehicles of the Chardonnet team – that team which was closely linked to Lancia and in which Jean-Claude Andruet played a leading role. Vehicles of this type were typically used for tuning, preparation, and media presentation outside of pure competitive use and today are sought after by collectors just as much as official classic racing cars. Lancia vehicles were distributed in France by the independent importer André Chardonnet. He created an extremely successful racing department, and one of his drivers was Jean-Claude Andruet, probably the most talented French rally driver of the time. He is a two-time French rally champion (1968 and 1970), European rally champion 1970, winner of the "Tour de France Auto" (1972, 1981, 1982), the "Tour de Corse" (1968, 1972, 1974), Monte Carlo 1973, and has numerous participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with class victories. Andruet was a respected driver and drove an Alpine A110 and a Lancia Stratos before driving the 037 of the Chardonnet team, with which he won numerous rallies in 1983 and 1984. In addition to the racing car 037, with which he participated in the French championship, he owned a reconnaissance vehicle for the track.
