The story
The year 1955 marked the beginning of a new era for the Lancia brand. The Lancia family could no longer maintain the company, founded in 1906 by Vincenzo Lancia, and after 49 years had to sell their shares in the family business. During this time, Lancia's designer, Pininfarina, revealed a large sedan, destined to succeed the Lancia Aurelia. In 1960, the magazine Auto, Motor und Sport was enthusiastic about the car and ranked it among the best production sports cars for handling. Compared to the Pininfarina Coupé, the Touring Coupé had a stiffer suspension, was noisier, and faster. In tests, the 2.5-liter version accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.8 seconds. The top speed was 180 km/h. The Touring Coupé was not even an economical car, with a starting price of 29,850 DM. Leather cost an additional 510 DM. In Italy, Lancia was considered the Ferrari of the middle class. However, a Ferrari 275, priced at around 49,000 DM, was significantly more expensive than the Touring. Only a few examples of the Flaminia Touring were built. However, it is more often seen at vintage car events compared to the Pininfarina Coupé. The availability of spare parts is similar to that of the Pininfarina Coupé. Truly good examples are rare, as the aluminum body requires considerable expertise to repair. Flaminia GTL The Flaminia GTL was a 2+2 coupe variant of the GT with an extended wheelbase of 2600 mm. The Flaminia Touring Convertible presented here is a COMPLETELY restored car. The restoration has been carried out completely and the car is now in better condition than a new one delivered at the time. It is painted Off-White with brown leather interiors. Moreover, it drives fantastic and still needs to be fully broken in. Everything is new. A stunning convertible for a true open Lancia driver.
