The story
After the great success of the Lotus Cortina MK1, Ford introduced the Lotus Cortina MK2 in 1967. In Europe, it was marketed under the name "Ford Cortina Twin Cam". Like its predecessor, it was equipped with the famous Lotus 1600 Twin Cam engine, which now had 4 more horsepower. The second series, unlike the MK1, was completely assembled by Ford and could be ordered in all Ford colors. However, 80% of the vehicles were ordered and delivered in "ermine white". This vehicle is an original Ford Lotus Cortina MK II Series 1, built in June 1968 and subsequently delivered to Austria. It is a very rare export model with left-hand drive, of which only 622 units were built in total. Since 80% of the vehicles were ordered in "ermine white", this Lotus Cortina in "dragon red" is a true rarity. In fact, it is one of only 124 units ordered in one of the other Ford colors. Additionally, it features a kilometer speedometer, which is also very rare. Therefore, this vehicle is likely the only existing Lotus Cortina MK2 that combines these two rare specifications.
