The story
The Maserati Merak is considered one of the most beautiful sports cars of the 1970s. It was produced by the Italian sports car manufacturer Maserati from 1973 to 1982 and is named after the star Merak in the constellation Ursa Major. The car represented a slightly modified version of the Maserati Bora and is still considered its little and beautiful brother today. In 1976, after Citroën had relinquished control of Maserati, which it had held since 1969, the second Merak model, the Merak SS, was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. Thanks to the increased compression and 44mm Weber carburetors, it now produced a remarkable 220 hp, which is 30 hp more than the original model. The dashboard was also streamlined from the Citroën instruments, now using those from Veglia. With about 993 units produced, the SS is the most produced version of the Merak. This white Merak SS offered here is from 1976, features black leather upholstery, and is in excellent overall condition.
