Introduced in 2008, it combined the extraordinary performance of the Maybach 62 S with the traditional Landaulet body, reserved for decades exclusively for heads of state, monarchs, and the most important personalities in the world. With its combination of technology, uncompromising luxury, and an open passenger compartment, Maybach completely reinterpreted one of the most traditional body shapes in automotive history. The term "Landaulet" dates back to historic carriages and describes a vehicle in which only the rear for passengers can be opened, while the driver is always under a fixed roof. This construction form was already considered at the beginning of the 20th century a symbol of maximum representation and was used by brands such as Rolls-Royce and Maybach for state cars. With the 62 S Landaulet, Maybach revived this concept for the first time in modern times, creating one of the most exclusive series vehicles of its time. The Maybach 62 S Landaulet was powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine developed by AMG. With an output of 612 hp and a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm, the luxurious sedan over six meters long accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in less than six seconds, despite a curb weight of around 2,855 kg. The transmission was via a well-tuned automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The advanced air suspension system with adaptive shock absorber adjustment ensured maximum driving comfort, even on long journeys. However, the true focus of the vehicle was at the rear. Here, passengers found a fully electric fabric hood that could be opened in seconds and transformed the rear passenger space into the open air. The highest quality leathers, exquisite wood veneers, electrically adjustable single seats with massage, climate, and reclining functions, the champagne cooler, silver champagne flutes, and an electrochromatic separation element between the driver and passenger compartments emphasized the vehicle's exceptional ambition. Even with the hood open, the driver's area remained completely closed, thus maintaining the classic architecture of the Landaulet. The Maybach 62 S Landaulet was produced in extremely limited numbers, with only 22 units existing. Due to its rarity, extraordinary concept, and technical refinement, the Maybach 62 S Landaulet is now considered one of the most exclusive and desired luxury automobiles in history. It combines timeless elegance, top-level engineering, and extraordinary exclusivity in a form that has only been realized in rare cases. This 62 S Landaulet is the last Maybach ever built, ordered on September 14, 2012, by Maybach's largest customer. This convinced the Daimler board to build a right-hand drive Landaulet as a conclusion to production. Further features include the facelift configuration, in which only four Landaulets were built, as well as the split Zeppelin exhaust tips, a factory power increase to 630 hp, two flagpoles, blue light, a custom-made leather soft-top cover, a hand-stitched signature of Wilhelm Maybach in the dashboard, door closing pins in authentic chrome instead of painted plastic, deep lambskin carpets, and a central LED screen in the rear, connected to a forward-facing camera. The creation of this unique piece was extraordinary. Due to the already decided cessation of Maybach production, the Maybach production line at the plant had already been dismantled, so this car was assembled by hand in its own unique place. No other Maybach has received this honor. The delivery took place on February 18, 2013, in Switzerland. In the following years, the Maybach 62 S Landaulet was exclusively displayed in the owner's collection, without the vehicle being driven. However, two services were performed by the first owner through a certified Maybach service center in 2017 and 2019. In 2021, the vehicle was sold through Mechatronik in Japan. There it was occasionally driven and in 2025 it was serviced. In the summer of 2026, the unique piece returned to our possession, making it available again in like-new condition with only 2,300 km driven.
