Mercedes 300 Adenauer Cabriolet D Restored - Year 1952 One of 455 units High-quality German restoration oldest After the first German chancellor Konrad Adenauer chose this type as an official car, the name "Adenauer-Mercedes" became established for the W 186-300. Until the introduction of the Mercedes 600, the 300 was the quintessential German representative limousine. The 300 was powered by a 3-liter six-cylinder engine with 115 hp and two carburetors. Power was transmitted by a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission, allowing a top speed of around 160 km/h, making it one of the fastest cars of its time. A technical feature of the entire 300 series was the central lubrication system, which made grease fittings that were still common at the time unnecessary. The cabriolet version of the car was rarely ordered. Out of a total of 4,563 sedans, there were only 455 cabriolets. The list price in 1952 was 23,700 DM; the smaller 220 model was offered in Cabriolet B version for only 15,150 DM. Our car was completely restored over 30 years ago by a specialized workshop in Karlsruhe. Before that, the car was registered in Switzerland. Since then, it has been part of a larger collection of Mercedes and, due to its reliability, has often been used for longer trips, for example to Italy.
