It differed from its predecessor only in details, the main difference being the 4-speed automatic transmission instead of 3-speed. Mercedes built a total of 1,154 units between April 1980 and June 1981, of which about 20% were racing cars. Very successful in motorsport, the Rally 107 quickly became a legend. Our vehicle was delivered new in August 1980 by Fahrzeug Werke Lueg GmbH in Bochum and was driven for the first years in Herten, North Rhine-Westphalia.
