The current owner purchased the car in 2018. The original color scheme in white (color code DB 050) with dark blue leather interior is still present today. The paintwork was renewed to a high standard four years ago. It perfectly matches the original dark blue leather with a slight and attractive patina. Together with the fine woods used and restored, it makes the interior luxurious and understated. This color combination appears, compared to most dark-painted 600 models, less "imposing" and gives the majestic limousine a certain lightness. The chrome is in good condition and shiny. The installed engine is "matching numbers" and therefore the original unit. The transmission does not match the delivery and has been completely overhauled and the selector replaced. The air suspension and brakes were professionally renewed last year. Series production began in the autumn of 1964. Then as now, the W100 series is also known as the "big Mercedes" in the tradition of the pre-war model 770 (W07/W150). The 600 had imposing dimensions and was available in short (limousine) and long (Pullman) versions with three rows of seats. The design was created by Paul Bracq, who at Mercedes was also responsible for designing the SL (W113 "Pagoda"). From the very beginning, the car was a sensation and set new standards for luxury automobiles. Thus, Mercedes demonstrated what was technically possible and upheld its ambition as a builder and manufacturer of the "best automobile". For maximum comfort of use and driving, Mercedes developed a complex and complete equipment. The chassis featured air suspension with height adjustment, shock absorber adjustment, dual-circuit power brake system, disc brakes on all wheels, as well as a double wishbone front axle and a single-joint swinging rear axle. During the development of the model, 15 patents were registered. In addition, a unique hydraulic servo system ("Comfort-Hydraulik") ensured almost silent comfort. It included the adjustment of the front seats and rear bench, the opening and closing of the side windows, the tailgate, and the optional sunroof.
