To replace the old TD and TF, Morris Garage introduced in 1955 a new roadster derived from the EX prototypes that had raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The discreet yet very elegant line is quite innovative for the time. For the rest, as is often the case with English roadsters, the mechanics and chassis rely on tried-and-true technical solutions; directly derived from the group's organ bank. The result is surprisingly sporty thanks to the car's 900 kg and aluminum elements. The success will be widespread and will make the MG A the best-selling sports car in the United States. Body / Exterior: The model proposed here is a MG A 1500 from January 1957 in its period "Old English White" color. The body is still in good presentation condition despite some superficial defects: a small scratch on the left rear wing and some light chips on the driver's door. The chrome bumpers and their supports are perfectly positioned and show no signs of dents. Only the rear supports show some small traces of oxidation. The black vinyl hood is in good presentation condition. The black vinyl tonneau cover is in good condition, despite a somewhat improvable installation. This specimen is equipped with an interesting and sought-after option on roadsters (cabriolet without side windows): the side screens. These are in good condition. Likewise, this specimen is equipped with a fixed aluminum trunk paint (luggage rack). The latter is in perfect condition and shows no deformation or oxidation. The 4 painted spoke wheels in original 15'' "Grey" color are in good condition. The 4 tires will be replaced with new ones before delivery. The 4 chrome knock offs are in good condition. This specimen comes with its spare wheel (painted spoke wheel) and its jack. Among the interesting body / exterior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: the plexiglass side screens, the black vinyl tonneau cover, and the chrome trunk paint. Interior: The interior has maintained its strict period configuration and appears in good presentation condition. The "Red" piping vinyl upholstery is in good condition. We noted a small tear on the driver's piping and on the seats. The matching door panels in "Red" vinyl are also in good presentation condition. The body color "Old English White" dashboard is in good condition despite some small scratches that have been corrected. The JAEGER and SMITHS onboard instrumentation is fully functional. Only the ventilation/heating block remains out of service. The original 4-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel is in good original condition. The original bakelite gear knob shows a patina of use. This specimen is also equipped with 2-point "aviation" type seat belts. The original "Black" carpets are protected by custom MG PVC mats. Among the interesting interior equipment that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: the "aviation" type seat belts and the original 4-spoke steering wheel. Chassis: The lift confirms a healthy body, with no visible signs of accidents or apparent structural corrosion. The fundamentals: wooden floors, longitudinal beams, body bottom, and wheel arches are in excellent condition. Usage reserve: as a principle, we cannot guarantee the
