It was in 1949 that the Oxford company presented the TD. Based on the TC, it improves comfort, reliability, and road holding. At the time, these modifications proved essential to stand out in a competitive and fierce market. The new Midjet thus received an independent double wishbone front suspension developed during the war, as well as front and rear bumpers. The 19-inch spoke wheels were replaced by 15-inch steel rims, much to the dismay of the early TD customers at the time. However, these new wheels proved to be significantly more robust and allowed for greater driving comfort and higher top speed. In a clear technical progression compared to its predecessors, the TD would be a huge commercial success for MG, which sold 3 times more units than the TC in the same period. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a MG TD from February 1953 in its period "Autumn Red" color. The body was restored a few years ago and the shell received a complete new paint job. After a professional polishing carried out with orbitals from our workshop, we found a small paint chip on the top of the rear wings, two small corrected chips on the engine hood, and two small defects under the paint at the right side fuel tank. The chrome bumpers and their supports are in excellent condition, with no signs of dents, deformations, or oxidation. The chrome grille is also in excellent condition. The beige canvas hood is in very good condition despite the presence of a small tear on the driver’s side. This specimen is equipped with the side screen option that includes the four side windows and air deflectors. Their fit with the hood remains average. The 4 chrome spoke wheels 15'' and the chrome Knock-offs are in excellent condition. The 2 front tires will be replaced with new ones before delivery. The TOYO rear tires show 20% wear. This specimen is equipped with its original spare wheel (chrome spoke wheel), as well as its jack, hammer, and starting crank. Among the interesting Body / Exterior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we found the 4 chrome spoke wheels, as well as the side screens and air deflectors. Interior: The interior appears to be in good presentation condition. The green leather upholstery shows a uniform patina. The wooden dashboard has some delaminations. The entire JAEGER onboard instrumentation and the LUCAS ammeter are fully functional except for the dashboard backlighting. This specimen is equipped with its original 3-spoke steering wheel and an original bakelite gear knob, both without major defects. The beige synthetic leather door panels are in excellent condition. The same goes for the black carpet and MG mats. This specimen is equipped with an MG passenger grab handle. Among the interesting interior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we found: the presence of the original steering wheel and the MG passenger grab handle. Chassis: The bridge check confirms a sound chassis and shell, with no signs of accidents or apparent structural corrosion. The fundamentals: ladder frame, shell floor, wing floors, wheel arches, and longitudinal members are in excellent condition. Reserve
