The story
This R34 GT-R V-Spec looks almost identical to a regular GT-R, but there are a number of fascinating details that you shouldn't overlook. First of all, the paint is Midnight Purple III (LX0), which with only 132 units built is even rarer than the previously mentioned shades. Compared to Midnight Purple II, Midnight Purple III shines with an even bluer hue than its predecessor and with a stunning golden metallic glitter. However, the allure of this car doesn't end with the incredibly rare color. In fact, when Chris from ChromeCars started digging into the car's history, he made a surprising discovery: a series of invoices from 2012 and 2013 from the iconic Omori factory of Nismo. It is not yet 100% confirmed, and Chris is currently engaged in further research. But this car could be a pre-production vehicle for Nismo's Clubman Race Spec (CRS) program. If you didn't know: the CRS program is a sort of in-house restomod service from Nismo, which restores the "regular" R34 and transforms it into something resembling the R34 Z-tune built only 19 times with its unicorn status. The CRS demonstrator car was officially unveiled in 2014, which means this specimen could be the prototype for the entire program. This would already be significant in itself, but if it turns out to be true, then it would be the only CRS-GT-R in Midnight Purple III, as Nissan initially stipulated that all CRS vehicles be painted gray. Considering the price of a standard R34 and the fact that the CRS conversion reportedly costs over $500,000, the next owner of this GT-R could truly be a very lucky man.
