Opel Rekord Deutsch Cabriolet 6 Cylinders - The Only One - - Year 1965 Absolute Rarity The only known 6 Cylinder Rekord A Cabriolet Fully restored Over 1 million units of the Rekord A were built (produced from 1963 to 1966); it was available as a 2 or 4 door sedan, station wagon, van, or as an elegant coupe. However, Opelians were denied a factory cabriolet. Thanks to two coachbuilding companies, this desire was nevertheless fulfilled: Deutsch GmbH in Cologne-Braunsfeld and Autenrieth from Darmstadt offered elegant cabriolet conversions. The coupe or the 2-door sedan served as the base. Deutsch charged 3,750 DM for the conversion, which corresponded to a markup of about 30 - 50% of the list price. While Autenrieth probably only produced a single vehicle, unconfirmed expert estimates suggest that 11 Cabriolet Deutsch were built. Today, 5 are still known, with our car being the only one to have the 6-cylinder installed. The vehicle was restored with photographic documentation a few years ago.
