The brand, then the fourth French manufacturer behind Simca, had not been present in this segment of mid-size sedans since the 203. The stakes were high for the Sochaux company, which wanted to expand its range and modernize its image, which was very traditional at the time. The modern yet elegant line of the 204 marked a total break in style with the 403 and 404 sedan ranges. Success would quickly be on the agenda, and the 204 would be the best-selling model in France for three consecutive years, from 1969 to 1971. The body would then be offered in several versions: sedan, station wagon, coupe, and convertible, the latter two versions being the rarest and most sought after today by collectors. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a PEUGEOT 204 coupe from April 1970 in its original "Alaska White 1304" color (matching color). This is in perfect presentation condition, showing a uniform shade and excellent shine. After a professional polishing performed with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we found scattered scratches all over the car, and a small dent on the hood as well as corrected paint chips on the latter. The original bumpers are in good condition. The front bumper has some light scratches. We found small dents on the door trims. This specimen is equipped with perfectly functioning CIBIE long lights. The 4 original 14'' steel wheels in "Gray" color are in good condition. The front tires will be replaced with new ones before delivery. The BRIDGESTONE rear tires show 30% wear. Among the interesting Body / Exterior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we found: Long lights and chrome rearview mirrors. Interior: The interior has retained its original configuration and appears in excellent presentation condition. The black synthetic leather upholstery is in excellent condition. This specimen is equipped with front headrests in black synthetic leather. The interior doors in black synthetic leather are also in good condition. The dashboard and its synthetic leather shelf are in excellent condition, with no discoloration. The entire VEGLIA dashboard is perfectly functional, except for the JAEGER clock. The original bakelite steering wheel shows a patina of use. The bakelite gear knob is in good condition. The front "Gray" carpets are in good condition, we found a cut on the rear rubber carpet. Among the interesting Interior equipment that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: The front headrests in black synthetic leather. Chassis: The lift confirms a healthy body, with no signs of accidents or apparent structural corrosion. The fundamentals: side rails, floor pan, trunk floor, and wheel arches are in good condition. Usage reserve: as a principle, we cannot guarantee the perfection of the alignments beyond their good visual and functional state validated during the road test and the lift. During the dynamic test, we did not find any abnormal parasitic noise at the level of the body or the rolling trains (tie rods, silent blocks...
