The story

For sale: Porsche 911 2.4L S (1972) original French. Model history: Produced in only two model years, the Porsche 911 2.4 S embodies the pinnacle of the first generation of the so-called "classic" 911s, before the introduction of the G models. It combines timeless elegance, established sportiness, and mechanical refinement. Equipped with the famous 2,341 cm³ flat-6 engine, the S version develops 190 hp at 6,500 rpm, making it the most powerful and fastest 911 of its generation. The engine benefits from Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI), providing a quick response and a marked sporty character. It reaches 230 km/h and breaks the 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds, remarkable performance for the time. Among the noteworthy specifications, the 1972 model stands out for its famous oil tank relocated in front of the right rear wheel, a solution designed for better mass balancing — abandoned already in 1973 for practical reasons. The 2.4 S is also distinguished by its Fuchs wheels, optimized suspension, and enhanced braking system. Inside, the atmosphere is typically Porsche: complete instrumentation, refined finishes, and a driving position focused on pleasure. A total of 6,022 units were produced, with only 3,603 coupes: 1972: 1,430 units 1973: 2,173 units The Porsche 911 2.4 S remains today one of the most appreciated models by purists, for its mechanical balance, rarity, and purity of design, just before the major stylistic and regulatory evolutions of the mid-1970s. History of this Porsche 911 2.4L S: Delivered new in France in October 1972, it is the 247th Porsche 911 S of the 1973 model year to leave the factory. Its trace reappears in November 1994 in a correspondence from Porsche Import, confirming its original specifications and its country of first delivery. This document was probably requested during its importation to Belgium. In 1997, it changed owners while remaining in Belgium, before returning to France in 2002, more precisely to Île-de-France, a region it has never left since. Purchased in co-ownership in 2003, it passed into the hands of a new co-owner in 2007. Since its return to France, it has been regularly maintained at the Porsche Center in Vélizy. Its current owner took possession in 2022. Body: In 2011, bodywork was carried out at Porsche Vélizy, including a complete repaint in its original color: blue. Today, the car presents itself in remarkable condition, with particularly well-adjusted hoods and doors. Upholstery: Factory fitted with a black synthetic leather interior, this 911 S was equipped upon request with left and right headrests, as well as electric windows. Its upholstery is still in excellent condition, as are its carpets and original headliner. Engine: The engine was completely rebuilt in 2006. It has been regularly maintained since then, mainly at the Porsche Center Vélizy. Today, this 911 S runs perfectly. Rolling gear and transmission: Its original gearbox works well, the gears shift perfectly. The front and rear axles are stable, providing excellent road holding. The chassis behavior is good. No play or noises have been detected. Konni shock absorbers have been installed upon request. It has been regularly maintained since then, mainly at the Porsche Center Vélizy. The braking proves perfect and straight. Sale price: €145,000.
