Porsche 911 (993) 3.8 RSR 1998 for sale

The RSR was developed by Porsche's motorsport department specifically for the participation of Porsche customer racing teams in international endurance races such as the American IMSA GT series and the European GT series. It was designed from the outset for use in 24-hour endurance races such as Daytona, Spa, and Le Mans. Like the Cup race car it is based on, the standard equipment of the RSR included a fully welded roll bar, an aluminum hood, a front suspension bridge, a fully bearing suspension, a special front spoiler, and an adjustable rear wing, a battery switch, and a fire extinguishing system. The RSR specification consisted of a series of developments that equipped these production vehicles. These included a double-adjustable Bilstein chassis with compression and extension adjustment, widened wheel arches as in the GT2 to allow for wider wheels, larger 380 mm front brakes as in the GT2, driver-adjustable front stabilizers, and the important M64/75 engine with the G50/34 transmission. The 3.8l engine was a completely reworked racing engine with stronger and lighter special valves, camshafts, pistons, and cylinders. To maximize performance, the intake system and exhaust manifolds were also completely reworked and connected to 6 individual throttle bodies. Power is transferred via a single-mass flywheel to a unique six-speed manual transmission of the G50/34 type. In total, Porsche produced 45 vehicles, divided into 30 units in 1997 and 15 units in 1998. The chassis numbers of the 1997 cars end with the digits from 98061 to 98090, while the vehicles built in 1998 end with 98016 to 98030. This specimen was completed on December 10, 1997, and delivered in 1998 to its first owner in Montreal, Canada. All transport documents from this process are available. However, the first owner kept the 993 for only one year and sold it for financial reasons with a mileage of only 200 km on July 13, 1999, to a personal friend from Montreal, with whom we are in contact. This person kept the vehicle for over a decade. During this time, he used the RSR in many races. Below are all known uses, which were mostly PCA, Canadian Challenge, and later also historic races: During this time, the owner took good care of the car, as evidenced by many invoices. According to him, after about 10,000 km a complete engine overhaul was performed. After nearly two decades in North America, the 911 found its new home in 2015 with about 12,800 km in the Kingdom of Bahrain. There, the vehicle was owned by a well-known collector for several years, with whom we maintained a friendly relationship for several years. In 2021, finally, the purchase was made by our company, with subsequent introduction in Germany on August 17, 2021, with 14,107 km. Since then, the vehicle has been in our collection and has only been moved for a photo shoot. After thorough research and a technical check, this rarity is offered for sale with over 300 pages of documentation.
