After the commercial success of the 924, the Stuttgart company reflected on a more performant model less characterized as "entry level". It would be the 944. Drawing on its experience as an F1 engine manufacturer with TAG, PORSCHE, which perfectly masters turbo technology, applies it to its 944, which sees its power increase from 163 to 220 horsepower. The maximum torque also makes a significant leap forward (33.6 Mkg). The whole is positioned on a balanced and very effective chassis thanks to the transaxle system that places the gearbox very far back. The 944 Turbo will carve out a prominent place in the PORSCHE range, between the very radical 911 in sports driving with its rear overhanging engine and the 928, more powerful but more expensive and heavier, thus more typified as GT. Bodywork / Exterior: The model presented here is a 944 Turbo delivered new in France in May 1988 in its original color "Steingrau LY7U" ("Corresponding color"). It is now in beautiful presentation condition. After a professional polishing performed with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we noticed a slight scratching on the front, a corrected paint touch-up on the hood, and 3 small dents. We also detected a dent on the roof and a slight scratch. Some corrected paint touch-ups are visible on the edge of the driver's door. We noted some fine lines on the windshield. The bumpers are in good condition, with no signs of impacts or deformations. We noted signs of rubbing on the edges. The retractable headlights work perfectly and show no signs of cracks or sealing issues. The 4 original 16'' "Telephone" wheels are in good condition, with no signs of impacts or deformations despite some signs of rubbing on the edges and on the PORSCHE logo of the left front wheel. The whole is mounted on GOODYEAR tires with 20% wear in front and 25% in the rear. The door central locking does not work. This specimen has retained its "space saver" spare wheel as well as its original tool kit, compressor, and jack. Among the interesting body equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: The 4 "Telephone" 16'' wheels, and the rear wiper. Interior: The interior has retained its strict original configuration and appears in very nice presentation condition. The mixed leather/fabric upholstery color "Schwarz" is in very good original condition despite the presence of a slight patina from boarding and a slight tear on the edge of the driver's seat. The driver's seat with electric adjustment is fully functional. The synthetic leather and carpeting door trims color "Schwarz" are also in very good condition, with no signs of boarding, deformations, or discolorations. The dashboard and its synthetic leather visor color "Schwarz" are in very good condition, with no cracks or deformations. The entire dashboard instrumentation is fully functional.
