Rolls-Royce Phantom II Mulliner-Karosserie 1929 for sale

The Rolls-Royce Phantom II was built by the British luxury car manufacturer from 1929 to 1935 as the successor to the Phantom I at the Derby factory in the United Kingdom, while production of the Phantom I in the United States continued until 1931. The Phantom II was the last model whose development from the first design draft to production occurred entirely under the direction and control of the company's founder F. Henry Royce. The propulsion was provided by a six-cylinder inline engine with overhead valves and 7,668 cc of displacement, derived from the predecessor Phantom I. However, the power was increased to 120 bhp (89 kW) at 3,500 rpm. The transmission was initially via a non-synchronized four-speed gearbox. Starting in 1932, the gears were synchronized one after the other. The chassis had a rigid front axle on semi-elliptic leaf springs, also derived from the Phantom I. At the rear, there was now a rigid axle on semi-elliptic leaf springs instead of cantilever springs. All four wheels were equipped with assisted drum brakes. The wheelbase was 3,810 mm. Additionally, there was a "sportier" version with a shorter wheelbase of 3,657 mm, which received the designation "Continental" and targeted the continental European sales market. Rolls-Royce exclusively produced the Rolling Chassis, that is, chassis, propulsion, and mechanics. The bodies were built by various coachbuilders - often custom-made according to customer requests. The most notable coachbuilders for Rolls-Royce were Park Ward, Thrupp & Maberly, Mulliner, and Hooper. A total of 1,281 vehicles were produced at the Derby factory from 1929 to 1935, a remarkable number. Only 125 of these models were left-hand drive.
