The car takes the recipe invented by the British: a chassis and engine derived from the large series, namely the components of the TRIUMPH Herald and the 948 cm3 bored out of the Standard 8. Thanks to these savings, Michelotti - the official designer of TRIUMPH - was able to design it a dress that was both sexy and elegant and with a much more suggestive sporty line than the capabilities of its rigid rear spring chassis. The success was immediate and the Spitfire would dethrone the "Midget" and other "Sprite" to represent up to a fifth of the brand's sales. Since then, the Spitfire has received constant improvements and 5 evolutions will follow until the 1500 FH which will be the last version. Despite the increase in engine displacement, its power will be slightly reduced to comply with new emission standards. However, torque and driving comfort will progress significantly. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a Spitfire 1500 FH from May 1979 in its period color "Vermilion Red". The body is in good presentation condition, showing a deep hue and a nice shine. After a professional polishing performed with an orbital polisher by our workshop, we noticed the presence of defects under the paint and a discoloration of the hue. The front bumper shows a scuff mark on the passenger side. The PVC front bumpers are in excellent condition despite the presence of a scuff mark on the right side. The chrome rearview mirrors show some small signs of oxidation. This specimen is equipped with the hard-top option which is now a rare and highly sought-after accessory. The vinyl hood color "Black" is in excellent condition. Its installation is easy and its watertightness remains compliant with the standards of the time. The 4 gray steel wheels 13'' are in excellent condition. This specimen is equipped with 4 CONTINENTAL tires with 40% wear on the front and 25% on the rear.
