The car takes up the recipe invented by the English: a chassis and an engine derived from the large series; namely the chassis of the Triumph Herald and the 948 cm3 bored out of the Standard 8. Thanks to these savings, Michelotti - Triumph's official designer - will be able to design it a dress that is both sexy and elegant and with a much more suggestive sporty line than the capabilities of its rigid rear spring chassis. The success will be immediate and the Spitfire will dethrone the Midget and other Sprite to represent up to a fifth of the brand's sales. Since then, the Spitfire will receive constant improvements and 5 evolutions will succeed from MK1 to 1500 FH. Produced in 45,000 units from 1962 to 1964 and equipped with an 1100 cm3 engine, the Spitfire 4 for 4 cylinders is also called Spitfire MK1 for chronological genealogy. Some modified specimens will be engaged by the factory in rallies and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a category victory in 1965. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a TRIUMPH Spitfire 4 MK2 from September 1966 in its period "Signal Red" color. After a professional polishing carried out with an orbit from our workshop, we found a slight scratching on the front. The chrome front and rear bumpers are in good presentation condition despite some signs of oxidation. The 2 chrome rearview mirrors as well as all the chrome and moldings are complete, aligned, and in good condition. We noticed a small dent on the hubcap of the right front headlight. The black vinyl hood is in good condition. The glass of the rear window is perfectly soft and translucent despite some fine micro-scratches. Its installation is easy and its sealing remains compliant with the standards of the time. This specimen is equipped with a chrome trunk painting in perfect condition. The 4 original chrome hubcaps are in good condition despite slight oxidation. The set is equipped with 4 tires with 20% wear both front and rear. This specimen is equipped with its original spare wheel. Among the interesting Body / Exterior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we found: the trunk painting (luggage rack). Interior: The interior is in excellent condition. The black vinyl seats / white piping are in near-new condition and show no signs of wear or tears. The black vinyl inner doors are in perfect condition. The wooden dashboard as well as the cover are in good condition. The original JAEGER onboard instrumentation is perfectly functional. We noticed a small chip on the wooden dashboard. The wooden 3-spoke MOTO-LITA steering wheel and the "TRIUMPH" gear knob are in excellent condition. The vintage radio is no longer functional but has been preserved for aesthetic reasons. This specimen is equipped with 3-point seat belts. The recently replaced black carpets are in excellent condition as well as the TRIUMPH PVC mats. Among the interesting interior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we found: the restored black vinyl upholstery / white piping, the wooden 3-spoke MOTO-LITA steering wheel, the 3-point seat belts as well as the passenger support handle. Chassis: The lift confirms a healthy chassis and body, with no visible signs of accidents or structural corrosion.
