The car takes the recipe invented by the English: a chassis and engine derived from the mass production; namely the foundations of the Triumph Herald and the 948 cm3 bored out of the Standard 8. Thanks to these savings, Michelotti - Triumph's official designer - was able to design it a dress that is both sexy and elegant and with a much more suggestive sporty line than the capabilities of its rigid rear spring chassis. The success was immediate and the Spitfire dethroned the Midget and other Sprite to represent up to a fifth of the brand's sales. Since then, the Spitfire has received constant improvements and 5 evolutions will follow from the MK1 to the 1500 FH. Produced in 45,000 units from 1962 to 1964 and equipped with an 1100 cm3 engine, the Spitfire 4 for 4 cylinders is also called spitfire MK1 for chronological genealogy. Some modified units will be engaged by the factory in rallies and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a category victory in 1965. Bodywork / Exterior: The model presented here is a 1964 Spitfire 4 in its period yellow color (Jonquil Yellow). The bodywork of this specimen was restored a few years ago and the shell received a complete new paint job in accordance with the period sample. We noted a small scratch and a mark under the TRIUMPH motif on the front hood, as well as a small corrected chip on the edges of the doors. A small crack remains visible on the paint of the left rear wing, as well as a small scratch towards the left front headlight. The trunk also shows some defects under the paint. The black PVC hood has been recently replaced and its micas are in perfect condition, with no micro scratches or tears. The 4 wheels painted in the body color are in good condition, despite a slight paint streak. The whole is mounted on 4 new tires. The 4 original hubcaps are in good condition despite slight oxidation. The 2 chrome bullet-shaped rearview mirrors are also in excellent condition. All chrome and trim are complete, aligned, and in excellent condition. Only the original bumpers appear slightly oxidized. Interior: The upholstery was completely redone by our upholsterer in 2018 (invoice: €988). The original black synthetic leather seats / white piping are in new condition and show no signs of wear or tears. The carpets are also in perfect condition. All plastics and door panels are in near-new condition. The dashboard has also been restored as well as the cover, the whole is in perfect condition. According to the original, the dashboard is painted in the body color. The bakelite steering wheel and the original black bakelite gear knob show a slight patina. The original JAEGER dashboard instruments are fully functional. This specimen is equipped with its original spare wheel as well as its wheel cover. Chassis: The lift confirms a healthy chassis and shell, with no visible signs of accidents or apparent structural corrosion. The fundamentals: ladder frame, shell bottom, wing bottoms, wheel arches, floors, and longitudinal beams are in good condition. Usage reserve: as a principle, we cannot guarantee the perfection of the alignments beyond their good visual and functional state validated during the road test and the lift. During the dynamic test, we did not notice any abnormal parasitic noise at the level of the shell or the rolling trains (tie rods, silent blocks...). The braking is aligned and its effectiveness is in accordance with the period standards. The front brake discs show less than 20% wear and their pads less than 60% wear. The rear drums are perfectly functional and free of leakage traces. The transition to the
