In fact, the excellent sensation/price ratio offered at the time, combined with the legendary robustness of the 4-cylinder engine from MASSEY FERGUSON, anchored the "TR attitude" and allowed TRIUMPH to sell nearly 60,000 units of its TR3 A, a slight evolution of the TR3 (external door handles, enlarged grille, and less protruding headlights). Despite a rudimentary comfort and a rather heavy steering at a standstill, the TR3 A remains today a best-seller and a safe value among collectible English roadsters. Its solidity and the abundance of spare parts allow for regular use without worries, a not negligible criterion for cars today with more than half a century. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a TRIUMPH TR3 A from January 1960 in its period "British Racing Green" color. The bodywork was restored in 2024 and the shell received a complete new paint job (Invoice: €4,080). It is now in excellent presentation condition, showing a uniform shade and excellent brightness. We noted an old repair trace on the left rear side. The chrome bumpers and bumpers are perfectly aligned and in good condition. We noted slight oxidation on the front bumper and two small holes. The radiator grille is in good condition. This specimen is equipped with P700 tripod headlights. The chrome fuel cap shows slight oxidation. The White vinyl hood is in good condition and shows no signs of discoloration, wear, or stretching. Its waterproofing remains compliant with the standards of the time. The PVC micas appear slightly dull, with no breaks or cracks. This specimen is equipped with a desirable and sought-after option on roadsters without side windows: the plexiglass side screens and side wind deflectors. The latter are in good condition. The 4 painted 15'' wire wheels and their 4 chrome knock-offs are in good presentation condition. The set is equipped with 4 MAXISS tires with 20% wear both front and rear. This specimen has its original spare wheel. Interior: The Black vinyl upholstery with White piping is in good condition. We noted a small tear on the piping of the front seats. The Black vinyl door panels are in good condition. The dashboard and visor in Black vinyl are in good condition. The JAEGER onboard instrumentation and SW ammeter are fully functional. Only the dashboard lighting is no longer functional. The original 3-spoke bakelite steering wheel is in good condition. The Triumph wooden gear knob has a uniform patina of use. This specimen is also equipped with 2-point aviation-type front seat belts. All Black carpets are protected by TRIUMPH rubber mats. This specimen is equipped with a battery switch and a passenger grab handle.
