Our analysis Model history: After the commercial success of the TR3, it was time for TRIUMPH to offer a more modern and comfortable car to continue riding the wave of the sporty and popular roadster that had led to its success. In October 1961, TRIUMPH introduced the TR4, which offered the same technical base as its predecessor: a solid "ladder" type separate chassis, a 2-liter engine derived from the large series, all with a decidedly more modern line designed by MICHELOTTI. The most significant point of progress regarding the TR4 is undoubtedly comfort. The rack and pinion steering makes driving much smoother and more enjoyable compared to its predecessor, the wild TR3 and its box steering, to say the least. A second excellent evolution will be the arrival of the TR4 A IRS in 1965, "IRS" for "Independent Rear Suspension". This profound modification of the TR4 chassis is much more than a technical detail and transforms its road behavior: with 4 independent wheels, goodbye to the bumps and harshness of the less progressive suspensions. Without yet being classified as comfortable, the TR4 A IRS becomes pleasant even on long journeys, and above all more performant... Bodywork / Exterior: The model presented here is a 1967 TR4 A IRS in its original "TRIUMPH Racing Green 25" color (Matching color) equipped with a rare option at the time and currently highly sought after: the removable Surrey Top (foldable hardtop). This is in removable version with the two possible combinations: hard top and soft top. The whole is in excellent presentation condition. We found a slight alignment defect on the driver's door. During the restoration, this specimen was fitted with two new chrome "obus" wing mirrors and stainless steel rear fenders from PROFIBER. The bumpers are perfectly aligned and in excellent condition. Only the front bumpers and the rear light supports show small punctures. The removable Surrey Top was also restored during the painting of this specimen. This is in excellent condition despite the presence of a small dent on the left rear. The hard top in "TRIUMPH Racing Green 25" as well as the soft top in black imitation leather fit easily and their sealing meets the standards of the time. The headliner of the hard top in imitation leather is in average condition. The 4 new 15 chrome spoke wheels and their 4 Knock-Offs are in excellent condition.
