In October 1961, TRIUMPH introduced the TR4 on the same technical basis as its predecessor: a solid separate chassis, a 2-liter engine derived from the large series, all with a decidedly more modern line designed by Michelotti. The most significant point of progress regarding the TR4 is undoubtedly comfort. The rack and pinion steering makes driving much smoother and more enjoyable compared to its predecessor, the wild TR3 and its box steering, to say the least. Body / Exterior: The model presented here is a TR4 from March 1963 in its period "Signal Red" color. The body was restored a few years ago. On this occasion, the shell received a complete new paint job. The latter is in excellent presentation condition, showing a uniform shade and excellent brightness. After a professional polishing performed with orbitals from our workshop, we noticed the presence of a small corrected paint chip on the edge of the left front wing. This specimen is equipped with a luggage rack (Veronique). We found a small oxidation around the rear lights. The front bumper and its chrome pads are in good condition, whereas the rear bumper and its pads show signs of oxidation. The black mohair hood is in perfect presentation condition. Its installation is easy although alignment with the side windows remains improvable. The rear PVC micas are perfectly translucent and show no cracks or breaks. We noted the absence of the keys for the doors and the trunk. The 4 painted spoke wheels 15'' are in excellent condition. The chrome knock-offs are in perfect condition. The 2 front tires will be replaced with new ones before delivery. The 2 HANKOOK rear tires show 30% wear. The spare wheel is present in its original housing located under the rear trunk along with the hammer. Among the interesting Body / Exterior options and equipment that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: The black mohair hood in perfect condition and the luggage rack (Veronique). Interior: The interior was restored a few years ago according to the original and now appears in excellent presentation condition. The black leatherette upholstery and "White" piping show no patina or signs of wear or discoloration. The matching door panels are in perfect condition, we found a small tear on the driver's glove compartment. The original "White" dashboard and its black leatherette visor are in good condition. The entire JAEGER onboard instrumentation as well as the LUCAS ammeter are perfectly functional except for the lighting. The original TRIUMPH bakelite steering wheel is in perfect condition. The TRIUMPH leather gear knob shows a patina of use. The VOXSON radio is not functional but has been kept for aesthetic reasons. The black carpets were replaced during the restoration and show no signs of wear or discoloration. This specimen is also equipped with front "aviation" type seat belts. Among the interesting interior equipment and options that this specimen is equipped with, we noted: The white dashboard and the TRIUMPH leather gear knob. Chassis: The lift confirms a healthy chassis and shell, with no apparent signs of structural corrosion. The fundamentals.
