Volkswagen Käfer Hebmüller 1949 for sale

Original Hebmüller "cardboard" logbook. Complete history. Fantastic documentation. Sensational VW Hebmüller Cabriolet, 1949. First registered to a Hamburg gallery owner. In 1953 a Hamburg doctor took over the car, using it extensively and regularly driving long distances, for example as far as southern Spain. At least one replacement engine and one replacement rear axle were fitted during this period. The old VW warranty cards for these parts are available. In 1960 the doctor gave the Cabriolet to his sister, who lived in German South-West Africa. She kept the car for over 30 years! In a letter she describes her memories of the car. In the beginning she still drove the VW quite often, as various maintenance invoices from the 1960s show. In 1974 she had another replacement engine fitted. Later, however, the Hebmüller became too precious for her to use in everyday life. For that she had a second, newer Beetle. In 1990 she finally sold the car, with a heavy heart, to a German collector who, in the years that followed, had it completely restored for around 210,000 DM (!) by renowned firms and under the guidance of VW historians. In 1995 the Hebmüller Cabriolet took 3rd place at the Concours d'Elegance at the Nürburgring, prevailing over far more valuable vehicles. We already sold this car a few years ago. Since then the Hebmüller has been further improved in detail. For example, the correct sun visors and the original rear-view mirror (extremely rare!) are now fitted. The vehicle comes with comprehensive documentation including FIVA and Deuvet passes, the original owner's manual and sales brochure, correspondence from the previous owners and much more. Only 696 examples of the "Hebmüller Cabriolet" were ever produced. It is estimated that around 100 examples still exist, of which only a handful are well documented.
