Volkswagen Käfer Panzer 1978 for sale

This 1977 Volkswagen Käfer, completely unrestored, looks at first glance like a million other Käfers. However, this specimen, which has only 45,000 km on the odometer, is extremely special: in 1977 a Sicilian industrialist bought the car for his wife and had it completely armored by the Italian specialized company "Blindocar" and equipped with additional locking mechanisms. Access to the vehicle was made almost impossible. In addition to the body, which has been reinforced with steel, the original windows have also been replaced with a special laminated glass that is 1.5 to 2.5 cm thick. The Käfer was therefore considered completely bulletproof and break-in proof, ensuring the owner's wife a total sense of security during her travels. The axles, braking system, and the entire interior have remained completely intact from the modifications. The interiors are still in almost like-new condition today. Even under the hood, the original 1200ccm engine with 40HP is still working. The increased weight of the vehicle does not affect the driving experience: only the braking takes a little longer than normal. The Käfer was first registered in Bologna in 1977 and has since been carefully maintained, according to the service booklet. From our research, the original owner is still alive and to complete the story of this unique Käfer, we will of course continue to try to contact him.
